Touch North Harbour (TNH) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the regulation of all areas and levels of their sport’s participation (Modules and Representative Teams) within the province and for the governance of the province-wide development of the sport of Touch.

Touch North Harbour is governed by a Board of Directors, with Committees responsible for: Module Services, Development, Representatives,andRefereeing; and staff based in the TNH Office.

TNH BOARD

The Touch North Harbour Region is governed by the following board members; four are elected at the AGM, and three are appointed. The Board has only recently come from a ‘Committee’ structure, so is still in the transition to function solely as a governance board - concentrating on the strategic objectives and directions of the Association, managing the Strategic Plan and setting policies, and ensuring the Association meets its legal and financial obligations.

Elected Members
Bernie McCallion – President (2008)
2nd Year of a Consecutive 2-Year Term

Bernie runs several successful businesses and brings a lot to the table from a business and financial perspective, as well as having run a large Module at Becroft for many years.
Russell Amos – Board Member (2007) 
1st Year of a 3rd Consecutive 2-Year Term
Russell is passionate about Touch in the North Harbour region, having run the Kaipara Junior Module for many years, coaching junior representative sides, and coordinating the Junior Inter-Module tournament.
Julie Morris – Board Member (2008)
2ndYear of a Consecutive 2-Year Term

Julie has been running Modules for many years in the North Harbour province. She has played, managed and been Tour Manager for Harbour. She has also been on the Board for Northcote Birkenhead Rugby Club.
Sara Prendergast – Board Member (2008) 
2nd Year of a Consecutive 2-Year Term

Sara has worked in the sports industry for 20 years including Operations Manager at College Sport and currently runs her own business consulting to several sports organizations. She has been playing and coaching in Harbour since the late 1980's.
Appointed Board Members
Joe Kurukaanga – Board Member (2010) 
2nd Year of a 2-Year Term

Joe has been appointed on the Board for his business acumen and knowledge of the TNH having been the President in 2007.
He is heavily involved in the Junior Representative programme.
Nicola White – Board Member (2011)
1st Year of a 2-Year Term

Nicola is a chartered accountant, who has been playing touch for many years. She has also had experience on the Board at Netball North Harbour as their treasurer.

TNH STAFF

We currently have no full time staff, but are working towards the future appointment of a CEO along with full time administrative and development staff. Presently we have one part time staff member based at the Sport House in Albany Monday to Friday, approximately 9am-12pm. We also have two other staff members on a contractual basis.

Julie Morris – Administration (office based)
Julie’s role is to provide an effective and efficient administrative service that supports the operations of the organization, including administrative support to Module Managers, Tournament Directors and to Executive Committee Conveners. Her knowledge of rules, regulations and touch within North Harbour is a valuable asset to TNH.
Sage Magele, Stacey Mclellan , Connor Bedwell, Development Team (on the road)
The Development Team's role is to c
oordinate and deliver ‘Touch Basix’ learn to play programmes – public courses, in-school courses, school holiday programmes; to coordinate delivery of coaching courses – public and in-school induction courses, accredited TNZ courses; and to coordinate elite and development academies.

TNH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES

TNH’s business is broken down into four key roles (Development, Module Services, Representative, Referees), to which the following voluntary committees are responsible. Until we get more volunteers signing up, we will be running the above mentioned Committees under a Junior Committee, Senior Committee, Referees. 

 

Responsible for overseeing all affiliated Junior & School Touch competitions within the North Harbour region, delivery of any tournaments (ie Inter-Module) developing policies and rules & regulations, supporting Module Managers, and ensuring a balanced distribution of competitions across the region. Responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of the representative programme across all age groups. This includes organising trials, appointing coaches/managers, coordinating details and bookings for representative trips.
Responsible to promote and develop all aspects of Touch from grass roots to high performance for players and for coaches. (Note: delivery of the programmes set by the Committee will be the Development Officer’s brief).


Senior Committee - Module Services, Representative

Members: Bernie McCallion, Christina Mattingly, Sara Prendergast 

The Senior Committee is responsible for overseeing all affiliated Junior & School Touch competitions within the North Harbour region, delivery of any tournaments (ie Inter-Module) developing policies and rules & regulations, supporting Module Managers, and ensuring a balanced distribution of competitions across the region.
Responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of the representative programme across all age groups. This includes organising trials, appointing coaches/managers, coordinating details and bookings for representative trips.

Referee Committee-

Convener: Nathaniel King
Members: Vicki McLellan, Brett O'Brien **4 vacancies

Responsible for delivery of programmes to develop referees from grass roots to the elite. They are also responsible for the coordination of referees for the many Touch competitions run in the North Harbour region.

Purpose
This is our primary role, which is common to all touch provinces.
Touch North Harbour’s purpose is “ To operate as an administrative agency for sport in North Harbour”

 Mission Statement
This is Touch North Harbour’s unique aim that sets us apart from others.
Touch North Harbour’s mission is “ To manage, foster and develop the sport of touch in North Harbour.”

 Goals
These provide the basic sense of direction for our activities; they establish the purpose and define the mission.
The goals for Touch North Harbour are:

  • Regulate of all areas and levels of touch participation within our province.
  • The governance of the province-wide development of the sport
  • To provide an opportunity for elite performers to fulfill their potential.
  • To deliver outstanding service in the administration and facilitation of the association.
  • To compete with distinction in all national competitions/tournaments.
  • To provide opportunities and encourage officials to reach their full potential.
